Maali Storywalk Festival acknowledges the Noongar people who continue to practise values, language, beliefs and knowledge on Noongar boodjar. Noongar People remain spiritual and cultural owners of this place, and we honour and respect the caretakers and custodians and the vital role Noongar people play for our community and our Festival to flourish.

Discover MAALI STORYWALK

Maali Stroywalk Festival is a celebration of storytelling in all its forms, from oral, written, song and more. This year (November 15), we invite everyone to join us on Maali Boodja, and discover the culture, history and continued voice and song of Maali.

MAALI STORYWALK FESTIVAL: WHO ARE WE

Stories shape us, they are the voices of past, present, and future, they ignite the imagination of our children, and the memories of our community. At the Maali Storywalk Festival, we honour these stories by creating a day to celebrate where Maali tradition meets imagination. Guided and shaped by the diverse voices of Maali, it’s elders, and the wider community, MSF celebrates connection through storytelling, song, and creativity, and invites Placemaking, people building, and community learning, where everyone, young and old, can listen, share, and feel part of something larger than themselves.

MSF’s day of stories, songs, and shared creativity takes place on Noongar Country. Through spoken word, live music, weaving, art, and play, our festival evokes community celebration for Maali and Noongar Learning. From quiet circles of reflection to lively performances on the lawn, every moment is designed to surprise, delight, and connect us, through the shared art of Story.
